I like the idea.
What I paid less attention to was everything marked broken: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, hardware acceleration, and most of the other things that make the phone useful as a small server.
Is software in Termux able to use the hardware acceleration?
Re wifi, I ran a server on wifi and needed to disable wifi power management for it to stay up, as is needed for a server. Is this an issue for Android?
I use some old phones as fixed ~appliances, but worry about the battery constantly charging, and the risk of fire. Am I crazy?
Now you've inspired me to un-retire my Pinephone with its battery removed and attached to a USB-C hub, as a server.
I removed the battery from my phone-turned-server, I highly recommend you do the same.
Maybe it would be possible to control battery charging so that the battery stays at 0% if it’s not removable?
