This looks incredibly cool!
I'm basing that entirely on the GIF on the /start page, though, because I have no idea what this is, and none of the links I tried actually explain anything at a high level. From this and the previous Lobsters thread, it may be some kind of ceiling-mounted visual and projection system? Maybe?
More details would be appreciated.
It’s inspired by Bret Victor’s Dynamicland; you might get a better idea from previous discussions https://lobste.rs/search?q=title%3Adynamicland&what=stories&order=newest
Much like Dynamicland, there's too much missing that the result becomes meaningless.
In the case of Dynamicland, there's simply not enough discussion/demonstration about the technical details, etc. for someone to get a sense of what the system is and is not capable of. In the case of Folk Computer, there's too much technical detail, and not enough information to get a sense of how this is used collaboratively or "live".
their example page has some videos that show it more clearly, but you're right, I'm not finding much that talks about the philosophy.
The kinds of ways people are interacting with this and building things reminds me a lot of collaborative editing in Resonite (don't have a better link that describes exactly how, sorry. Their "features" link there kinda does, but it's very press-release-y and doesn't get at how/why it works...)
Have really been wanting to set this up at my hackspace, is there a clear guide that shows how you could set this up?
