Source-available projects and their AI contribution policies

I surveyed 112 major source available projects to see if they had banned AI commits or allowed them or where they stood. 70 of 112 projects (including Linux, curl, MariaDB, DuckDB, liburing) had obviously AI assisted commits already. 4 (NetBSD, GIMP, Zig, and qemu) banned AI contributions.

Gentoo has famously banned AI too but it was a little bit harder to survey distributions for policies or actual commits because their code is spread out all over the place in terms of like their package manager and so on.

This survey is no judgement in any direction, I just wanted to know what projects are actually doing or have already done.
