After Bill Atkinson passed away, I made a short demo of MacPaint running in Advanced Mac Substitute:

And yes, that's me trying to write in cursive with a mouse. :-)
I just wanna say: Thanks. I've gotten a lot of good value out of your software as an mac enthusiant and I imagine countless others have too :)
You're welcome, and thanks for the kind words. Are there specific programs you'd like to highlight as having been beneficial?
I've long thought about implementing something like this, but as a "translator" – Toolbox calls should be adaptable to modern Cocoa. Imagine, for example, having the menus on your actual Menu Bar. It's cool to see this idea isn't totally mad after all!
This could be an approach for writing super-portable Mac applications. My own applications span the range from System 6 and earlier to 32-bit macOS. By implementing enough high-level Carbon functions like CreateNewWindow(), you could go even further.
