Back in the day in college where we actually had multiuser Unix systems, my .plan file consisted of the following lines:
You have new mail
Bus error-core dumped
I caught plenty of people with that output.
I’ve tinkered with .plan files in the past, but could never get the habit to stick because I forget they’re there! I’ve since moved to Logseq, which has a pretty similar setup as the author describes — the journal, for example — but with bells-and-whistles. While I’m not a fan of yet another Electron app, having it solves my “forgets it exists” problem…plus it’s all locally stored markdown and Clojure, ultimately, so I can hack about with it in my terminal if needs be.

In general, I envy folks who can write down daily routine things on computers/tablets/phones. I can never stick to something, despite my trying for the last 25 years (starting with various PDAs). It feels like small things I would remember, and big things take too much to write
