Hey folks,
Once more around the sun, today is 14 years since Lobsters launched in 2012.
Like the the American fourteeners, our activity charts have been busily sloping upwards.
We now have 20,412 users who've submitted 127,589 stories, written 696,054 comments, and cast 4,911,743 votes.
(I'm happy to run more complicated queries than count(*).)
Previously: 2013 2016 2017 2019 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024 2025
Look back at the last year’s top stories, or review your upvoted comments and stories to share your favorites.
Thank you.
Lobsters gives me hope that online communities are still viable. And I’ve learned & discovered so much thanks to it!
Thank you for your work keeping Lobsters such an engaging and rewarding community to participate in. I haven't been a member for very long in the grand scheme of Lobsters' history, but it has quickly become the first place I check when I want to learn about real things made by real people! Especially personal blogs and websites. It's made me realize I don't need to write to fit other peoples expectations, I can write what I want to write about and it's possible for a community to bring that writing towards people who want to read it!
Apologies if that reads weirdly, I'm not quite sure how to put what I'm trying to express into words. In short, thank you :)
Thanks for keeping the site running!
I find the 2020 spot on the stats graphs so interesting. COVID is I guess the main even regarding that? But I would have thought that would cause online activity to increase not decrease? Also interesting is how long the lull lasted for, 3-4 years to return to the same number of active users.
On another note the comments and votes graphs are interesting, in that they seem mostly linearly correlated up until some point where they diverged and votes started to increase much more rapidly than commentors. Perhaps it is just the axes/scale and my human eyes though, plotting them against each other might make it easier to see.
I love lobsters, thank you for making it work so well.
Thank you for all the wonderful work!
To many more!
It would be cool to get a stacked bar chart of the # of users who login / vote / comment / submit.

Is this a thinly veiled threat to invade Canada again?
